Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Philosophy Library was established on October 6th, 1947, and was located on the first floor of Savery Hall. The original library collection was built around 650 books from Professor Savery's private library, together with 250 books on permanent loan from the main library. Friends and colleagues of Professor Savery donated an additional 150 books to support the establishment of the Philosophy Library. Claire A. Marston was the first head of the Philosophy Library and volunteers staffed the library for half of the hours of operations. The Philosophy Library was closed and the materials incorporated into the Suzzallo/Allen Library in 1995.
