According to their documents, the Mantle Club was a non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian fraternal organization whose purpose is "Mutual benefit and protection of its members." The club only accepted male citizens of the United States twenty-years of age and older. Members had to pledge their belief that an organized group had the potential to accomplish more than an individual, and also had to be a settled member for the community. A current member had to vouch for a potential member, and then they had to be approved by the Board of Governors. In response to the question "What do I have to do in the Mantle Club?" their club answered, "Whatever is necessary to make you a Success in Life. It will probably be something different than you have been doing, as it requires Changes in order to make Progress."
