Historical NoteReturn to Top

Seattle University Library was originally located in the Garrand Building (1898). The second location occupied the third floor north in the Liberal Arts Building (1947), now the Administration Building. In 1958, the library's inadequate facilities became a priority for the five-year development campaign fund. Construction on the new A.A. Lemieux Library began on the south end of campus in 1965 and was completed for occupancy in November 1966 with formal dedication on April 21, 1967. In 2003-2004, plans were launched to renovate and expand the library. Temporary library collections and services were provided during academic year 2009-2010 at an interim library building located at 1313 E. Columbia St. The new Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons was completed within one year and reopened in September 2010.
