Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Peter Joon Park is a musician and teacher. He earned his BA in Computer Science, his MA in Ethnomusicology, and his PhD in Ethnomusicology all from the University of Washington. His PhD dissertation focused on the Korean p'ungmul gut and the integration of traditions with modern identities. He has taught Korean gayageum and janggu at UW and the Indonesian gamelan at Seattle Pacific University and Pacifiic Lutheran University. He has produced recordings of his own music as well as curated Han Madang: Musician Traditions of Korea, a CD featuring recordings from the UW Ethnomusicology Archives.
