Content DescriptionReturn to Top

Correspondence, membership records, business records, funeral records, scrapbooks, photography book, 1894-1981 (bulk 1940s-1980s). One scrapbook of clippings in Japanese concerns the Hiroshima Kenjinkai (Club), composed of people who came from Hiroshima and their descendants. Another organization documented is Seattle Japanese Community Service, a forerunner of Nikkei Concerns and Keiro Nursing Home. Related Accession: an interview with Mr. Uyeda recorded in 1970. See also excerpts from interview of Mr. Uyeda in Kazuo Ito, "Issei," 1973, pp. 555-558 (F 900 J35H8613 1973). The two scrapbooks containing mainly Seattle clippings were compiled by a younger cousin and have been retained to show media coverage of some Seattle Japanese artists and community leaders in the 1950s. Bulk of these papers are in Japanese.
