Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Seattle Action for Soviet Jewry was established in 1975 to help Jews in the Soviet Union. Besides sending aid, gifts, and letters to the USSR, Seattle Action worked to improve U.S. laws to benefit emigres. Judy Balint was chairperson of Seattle Action for Soviet Jewry and was instrumental in its work. She subsequently served as a national director of the Coalition for Jewish Concerns-AMCHA. Following her emmigration to Israel in 1998, she pursued a career as journalist and writer, also serving as communications and digital media coordinator for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs.
