The collection consists of various publications created by and about OHSU, spanning 1971-2011. Materials include newsletters, brochures, reports, lecture materials, press releases, school program catalogs and handbooks, and correspondence. In addition to printed materials, a small collection of floppy disks is also included (all 3.5" discs except for one 5.25" disc). The collection is divided into 3 main series: News, Brochures, and Miscellaneous.

Although now known as Strategic Communications, the department has held different names throughout the years, including University Relations and Public Affairs, University News and Publications, and the Communications Office.
