Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Butler is a congregant at Temple Beth Am, a Reform congregation in northeast Seattle. She has served in a variety of leadership positions at the Temple, including as a member of the Long Range Planning Committee, as Chair of the Building Committee [ca. 1985-1988], as a member of the Governing Board, and as President of the congregation [ca. 1977-1978].
As a long-time member of the Washington State Jewish Historical Society (ca 1982- ), Butler has served as member and president of the Board of Directors and as chair of the Archives Committee.

Scope and Content: Olga Butler discusses her early life in an assimilated Jewish Family in Berlin, Germany, her emigration, her early years in the U.S., and her life in Seattle beginning in 1947. She talks about the founding of Temple Beth Am and her involvement with Jewish Family Services, Kline Galland, Jewish Federation, and the Washington State Jewish Historical Society. She reflects upon 50 years of changes in Seattle.
