Historical NoteReturn to Top
The University of Washington Retirement Association is a private organization composed primarily of former faculty and staff employees who have retired from the University, and their spouses. The Association takes an active part in social and intellectual affairs of the University and in providing special services to elderly persons, and maintains a close watch on prospective changes in the University's retirement compensation plans. The University, in turn, maintains a close relationship to the Association in providing a Director for the Retirement Center. This Director assists retirees and those planning to retire by overseeing the work of 26 standing committees for the Association. The Association also maintains a library at the Retirement Center for use by its members and combines its efforts with other organizations of retirees to monitor and lobby in the interests of retired persons.

Scope and Content: Constitution and by-laws, correspondence, financial reports, newsletters (Health Affairs Report, 1982-1994, incomplete), minutes, and committee reports documenting the activites of the UW Retirement Association. Also includes minutes and agendas from the Board of Directors and executive committee meetings. Materials in the files marked "Originals" document the range of activites of the organization and are arranged in chronological order. The committee files are arranged alphabetically, by committee, and include files from the Committee on Committees, "Health Affairs Report" Advisory Committee, Housing Committee, Insurance Committee, Library Committee, Luncheon Committee, Mailings Committee, Money Mangement Committee, PERS Liason Committee, Research Studies Committee, and the Telephone Committee; 1975-1994.
