Historical NoteReturn to Top

Edna Stinsman was a Portland, Oregon resident between 1943 and 1950. With the possible intent of writing a historical novel, Stinsman assembled a valuable collection of secondary material regarding some of the Pacific Northwest boundary disputes between the United States and Great Britain. Her focus was mainly on the San Juan Island dispute and the Oregon Question.

She also attempted to gather as much information as possible on Archibald Campbell, Jr. American Commissioner for the settlement of the San Juan boundary dispute, and Captain James C. Prevost, British commissioner.
