Lyndon O. Brown (1902-1966) was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and educated at Northwestern University.

He was a professor of marketing and advertising at Northwestern.

He became director of media and research for Lord and Thomas, later Foote, Cone and Belding. In 1948 he became vice-president in charge of media and research for Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample, Inc.

The collection contains market and distribution research analyses, agency files, speeches, manuscript material, and biographical material.

Series I contains market and distribution research analyses for specific clients while Series II contains general market and distribution research analyses.

Series III contains agency files from Brown's work for Dancer-Fitzgerald-Sample, Lord & Thomas, C. C. Winningham, Stewart-Brown & Associates and files include memoranda, newsletters, promotional materials, etc.

Series IV contains speeches by Brown about motivational research, marketing management and research, advertising effectiveness, among others.

Series V consists of writings including articles and essays about trademarks, consumers, market research and analysis, among others.

Series VI contains manuscript material for book length manuscripts and a dissertation. Topics include advertising media, marketing and distribution research, quantitative market analysis methods, and sales and market analysis methods.

Series VII contains biographical information and awards.
