Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Gilbert Alison Adams (1862-1932) was an attorney in Council City, Alaska. He served as president of the Townsite Organization, and worked as the clerk of the District Court in Nome and as a U.S. commissioner in Council. He may also have been the proprietor of Kane House, a hotel in Council, in the early 1900s. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Dickenson (1866-1947) in 1906, and they had two daughters, Lucile D. (1907- 1982) and Alison M. (1908-1958). Lizzie was born in Yolo County, California in 1866 and moved with her father to Nome, Alaska in 1899. In 1918, the family left Alaska and moved to Tacoma, where Gilbert died in 1932 and Lizzie remained until 1943, when she moved to Seattle to live with Lucile. Alison moved to Los Angeles and married a man named Owen.
