Biographical NoteReturn to Top

David H. Pinkney received his doctorate in history from Harvard University in 1941. He joined the University of Washington faculty in 1966, teaching French history, with a particular focus on the period of the Revolution through the mid 19th century. Pinkney also taught as a visiting lecturer at several universities and made guest lecture appearances nationally and internationally. He was also active in a number of professional associations and served as president of the American Historical Association in 1980. He retired from the University of Washington in 1985.
