Summary:Associated Students of Seattle Pacific (ASSP) is the student government body for Seattle Pacific University. ASSP consists of several divisions: Campus Activities, Campus Ministries, Student Government (including ASSP Senate) and Student Media. Summary:Cascade College operated in Portland, Oregon from 1939 until June 1969, when its student body merged with Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, Washington. Included in this merger was the transfer of the college's institutional records and other materials to Seattle Pacific. This collection contains Cascade College records, publications and other materials as well as catalogs and photographs from its precursor entities, The North Pacific Evangelical Institute and the Portland Bible Institute.

Summary:The Free Methodist denomination was formed in 1860 from splinter groups of the Methodist Episcopal Church in western New York state and Illinois. The denomination is part of the Holiness movement and can be theologically placed in the Wesleyan tradition. This collection contains yearbooks, minutes, 1989 General Conference records, and some publications.

Summary:John "Pete" Hammond (1936-2008) worked on business and faith initiatives for InterVarsity/USA from 1966 to 2007. While with InterVarsity, Hammond was director of Evangelism and director of Ministry in Daily Life. The collection includes photographs; periodicals; conference schedules and brochures; manuscripts; and newspaper clippings.

Cyril Hill Papers

Summary:Cyril Dean Hill (1899-1990) was a lawyer who grew up on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle and attended Seattle Seminary. He was a colonel in the U.S. military during the Second World War and helped to establish a Free Methodist church in Tokyo. The collection contains correspondence, photographs, glass plate negatives, ephemera, periodicals, clippings, and scrapbooks.

John Newton and John Campbell Correspondence

Summary:The collection contains correspondence between John Newton, clergyman and hymn writer ("Amazing Grace"), and John Campbell, philanthropist, author, and traveller. Portions of the letters were published by Campbell in "Letters and conversational remarks, by the late Rev. John Newton, rector of St. Mary Woolnoth, Lombard-street, London: during the last eighteen years of his life." The collection contains 36 letters written by John Newton to John Campbell and copies of seven letters from Newton to recipients other than Campbell. All letters date between 1789 and 1802.

Charles W. Peterson Papers

Summary:Charles W. Peterson attended Seattle Seminary and the University of Washington, where he studied electrical engineering. He invented the Musicone Speaker while working for the Crosley Radio Corporation of Cincinnati, and also worked as a design engineer for the Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, New York. The collection contains documents, photographs, glass plate negatives, publications and radio parts including an example of a Crosley Super Musicone speaker.

Lawrence Schoenhals music scores and recordings

Summary:Lawrence Schoenhals was the director of choirs at Seattle Pacific College from 1940 to 1968 and directed the School of Music from 1946 to 1968. His choirs performed for the Light and Life Hour, a religious radio program that was recorded and broadcast from the campus of Seattle Pacific from 1945 to 1965. The recordings in this collection include several broadcasts of the Light and Life Hour, the Seattle Pacific A Capella Choir and the Seattle Pacific Oratorio Society singing "Messiah," "Elijah," "The Creation," and "A German Requiem."
