Summary:Since incorporation in 1887, Amax Inc. has been a giant in the mineral exploration and mining industry. This collection includes aerial photographs and geologic plane table sheets dating from the 1920s through the 1960s compiled by Amax Inc. during their exploration of Central and Eastern Montana’s potential mineral wealth.

Summary:In 1977 Rexford S. Blazer and John L. Wachsmuth managed a historical resource identification and location project study of Montana's mining camps. This collection contains typewritten documents, hand drawn maps, and photo negatives of mining camps in Montana.
 
Collection Title:Bob Brown oral history project

Summary:From 2005-2010, former Montana congressman Bob Brown conducted oral history interviews with a variety of political figures in Montana. The interviewees ranged from state legislators, lobbyists, attorneys and journalists, to Montana Constitutional Convention delegates and officials in administrative and financial branches of the Montana State government. A few highlights within the topics are Montana and the Anaconda Company, the recurring sales tax referendum, mining, elections, deregulation, and the legislative process over time.

Collection Title:Lewis and Clark National Forest Passport in Time oral history project

Summary:The Passport in Time interviews were part of a heritage research project of the region done by United States Forest Service employees and regional volunteers. The fifteen interviewees, recorded for the Lewis and Clark National Forest Passport in Time Oral History Project by staff and volunteers in 1997, describe growing up on Montana ranches, sheepranching, grazing in national forests the Crazy Mountains, and other areas and towns in or near the National Forest from about 1930 to 1950.

The collection contains legal and financial materials that document his firm of McNamara & Marlow in Big Sandy, Montana; his trusteeship for survivors of Charles A. Broadwater; and his various mining, real estate, banking, livestock, and legal ventures.
