Delta Kappa Gamma Society records

Summary:The Delta Kappa Gamma Society records (1938-2001) contain chapter and state membership records, as well as scrapbooks maintained by Utah state presidents. The scrapbooks contain correspondence, state and regional convention planning materials, meeting minutes, and program materials received from the international headquarters of the society. Delta Kappa Gamma is an honorary society for women educators. The society was founded in Texas in 1929. The first Utah chapter was chartered in Salt Lake City in 1938. By 1997, Utah (referred to as Alpha Theta State in many of the records) had 27 chapters and over 1,000 members.

Summary:The Friendship Circle was organized by Elizabeth S. Wilcox as an alternative group for members of the Authors Club that were unable to attend weekly meetings due to other commitments. It was intended to be a less strenuous program with monthly rather than weekly meetings. The main purpose of The Friendship Circle was for friendly contact and association. No minutes were kept in the early years of the club, so the exact date it was started is unclear. It has been narrowed down to sometime between 1914 and 1918.

The Kaysville Art Club, a woman's organization in Kaysville, Utah, dedicated to the study and appreciation of art, began in 1934. Information on Utah artist LeConte Stewart is in the correspondence, news clippings, and art inventories. Material on the Kaysville Civic Association, an umbrella civic group, is included.
