Summary:The Federal Resources Corporation records (1930-1989) contain the "dead files" of a company that, through a long series of mergers and acquisitions, most of which took place in the 1960s, became a force in the world of mineral exploration, development, and mining. While the company dealt with the extraction of various metals and minerals over the years including gold, silver, copper, beryllium, and fluorspar, the focus of the materials in this collection is primarily uranium. The collection materials reflect the company's focus on the western states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and, especially, Utah and Wyoming.

Happy Jack Mine records

Summary:The Happy Jack Mine records (1938-1993) consist of correspondence, reports, financial records, news clippings, and legal documents related to the operation of the Happy Jack Mine by Cleone Bronson Cooper Hansen and her first husband, Joe Cooper. Included are materials documenting other business and mining interests of Cleone Hansen and her second husband, Cecil P. Hansen. Also included are documents related to the estate of Joe Cooper. The Happy Jack Mine was located on the southwest rim of White Canyon near Blanding, Utah. It was developed by Cleone Bronson Cooper Hansen and her first husband, Joe Cooper. The mine was a major producer of uranium ore from the 1950s to the 1970s.

This collection covers four main portions of Melich's life: mining, gubernatorial campaign, service in the Republican Party, and Solicitor of the Department of Interior.

Summary:The southeastern Utah oral histories (1963-1984) consist of personal recollections, in the form of transcripts and stories, from people who lived in southeastern Utah and were part of its history. Each of the stories centers around the individual perspective of the interviewee. The collection covers a wide range of issues from the early Mormon settlements in Mexico to uranium mining or Navajo trading.
