Summary:The Gordon and Peg Alcott papers consist of materials documenting the Alta ski patrol acttivities of Gordon and Peg Alcott. Included are notes, ski patrol manuals, avalanche rescue manuals, clippings concerning ski patrol activities, and a scrapbook of promotional materials about the Alta ski resort (1971-1972). Also included is a brochure from the 1936 Winter Olympics in Germany. Gordon Alcott was an original member of the ski patrol at the Alta Ski Resort. Peg Alcott also served on the Alta ski patrol.

Summary:The Alpine Training School scrapbook contains information on ski racing and the School. The Alpine Training School was developed in the 1960s by Marv Melville, Al Hansen and Bill Spencer to provide competent instruction for all the school members; to develop young competitors interested in qualifying for national and international meets; to provide guidance and supervision for members at all organized functions; to provide traveling expenses to local, divisional and national events, and mainly to get young people in good physical conditions to prepare for the ski season.

Summary:The Barbara Stewart Anderson papers (1901-2001) focus extensively on images, documents and correspondence from her family, particularly from her father, Ray Stewart, the founder of Timp Haven Ski Resort. Includes twelve valuable land patents deeding land to the North Fork Investment Company, as well as historic newspaper clippings from the Provo Herald, and hand-written documentation of water levels in Provo Canyon.

Summary:The Brighton Ski Resort records (1915-2000) contain a master plan, brochures, season pass forms, trial maps, posters, articles, news clippings, ski passes, and typescript histories detailing the development of both Brighton, Utah and Brighton Ski Resort. The first serviced ski area in Utah was created at Brighton in 1936. The resort area has been expanded to cover 850 acres today.

Summary:The Norm Burton papers (1958-1985) contain correspondence, programs, articles, news clippings, and a wooden plaque pertaining to the Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA) and the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association (ISIA). Norm Burton served as certification president, administrative vice president, and president of the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association during the 1970s and 1980s. The materials also contain information on the Miller Ski Company and Snow Basin's ski patrol.

The Collection is comprised of two sport scrapbooks of news articles, several folders of news clippings, a racer's seed number from the Junior National Olympics held in Reno, Nevada, and an Intermountain Professional Ski Instructor of America pin.
