Summary:The Lester Andrews Hubbard collection is comprised of Hubbard's collected stories and folklore about Utah. Included are items on legendary characters, pioneer life, polygamy, Mormon-Indian relations, Indian legends and tales, songs and ballads, games, riddles, and customs. Some foreign folklore material is also included. Lester Hubbard (b. 1892) was a professor emeritus of the University of Utah English Department where he was a faculty member for thirty-two years.

Summary:The Wesley Pratt Larsen papers (1802-2005) contain materials from Larsen's career as a biologist, as well as research on Utah history. Publications by Wesley P. Larsen include works on Indian and pioneer medicine in Utah Territory, 1847-1900, Southern Utah tales, and James Dalley family history, v.3. Larsen earned a Ph. D. from the University of Utah in 1960. He was the associate program directory for the National Science Foundation. He was probably best known for his research on insect stem cells.

Summary:The Utah folklore collection (1947-1997) consists of student folklore projects which spans nearly fifty years. These projects were prepared by University of Utah students studying in various courses and workshops taught by Louis Zucker, Wayland D. Hand, Hector Lee, Barre Toelken, Jan Harold Brunvand, Margaret K. Brady, and David Stanley.

Summary:The Utah Humanities Research Foundation records (1944-1954) contain information on cultural materials throughout Utah and neighboring regions. The foundation, funded by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1944, attempted to preserve and collect cultural materials from the area. Fellowships were granted to qualified people for study in various areas of the humanities. The results from these studies are included in the collection. Subjects covered in the collection are autobiographies, biographies, dance, drama, education, folklore, history, Indians, industry, printed materials, photography, and correspondence.
