Summary:The Marie Nelson Bennett papers (1939-2013) contain copies and originals of Bennett's work. It also contains a biography prepared by Bennett herself, giving detail about her work in general, as well as details about specific pieces of her work. Bennett received a Ph. D. in composition from the University of Utah. In 1995 she was nominated for the Kennedy Center Freidham award for orchestral composition and in 1996 she received a Merit of Honor from the University of Utah Emeritus Alumni Association.

Summary:The Ramiro Cortés music recordings (1950s-1996) consists predominantly of audio recordings of musical compositions by Cortés, an internationally recognized American composer who served on the faculties of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC) and the University of Utah until his death in 1984. The collection also contains works by other composers and a few unidentified 8mm and 16mm films, likely home movies taken by Cortés and his wife, dancer Nancee Charles.

A Salt Lake City native, Dr. Nelson studied at the Yale School of Music and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Utah where she studied under Ramiro Cortés and Vladimir Ussachevsky.

Summary:The Leroy J. Robertson papers (1890s-1990s) consist mainly of Robertson's original music manuscripts. Many of these manuscripts show the progression from first melody sketches to the completed works. Notes and thematic analyses accompany many of the compositions. The collection also includes correspondence from many prominent musicians, students, friends, and family. There is also correspondence related to his professional activities as a composer. Other materials include school notebooks, pamphlets, receipts, programs, news clippings, and other papers collected by Robertson's daughters, Marian Robertson Wilson and Karen Post.

Summary:The Marian Robertson Wilson papers (1920s-2009) consist of correspondence, article drafts, writings, research materials and other papers. The bulk of the materials relate to Wilson's writings about her father, Leroy J. Robertson, a world-renowned musician and composer, and her research into coptic studies. Wilson (b. 1926) is a musician, as well as a linguist and teacher. She has been recognized internationally as music editor of Coptic Encyclopedia and has lectured and taught at universities throughout the world.
