Summary:The Henry L. A. Culmer papers (1901-1973) consist of the personal and professional papers of H. L. A. Culmer (1854-1914), a well-known Utah artist remembered for his portrayals of Utah and the intermountain states. Included are biographies, diaries, articles, correspondence, theater programs, and music compositions.

Robert S. Olpin papers

Summary:The Robert S. Olpin papers (1899-2005) consist mainly of Olpin's research, writings, teaching, and administrative materials. Robert (Bob) Spencer Olpin (1940-2006) was the dean of the University of Utah's College of Fine Arts and a professor in art history. He served as a consultant for and was a member of many national art organizations. He was also a co-director of the Utah Fine Arts Institute and president of Associated Art Historians, Inc. Also present in the collection are Olpin's writings and research on Utah art and artists. All of Olpin's research materials for his dissertation regarding Alexander Wyant, as well as some personal papers, are also in the collection.

George Martin Ottinger papers

Summary:The George Martin Ottinger papers (1833-1899) contain Ottinger's journal, and other related items. The collection contains two drafts of a brief summary of Ottinger's journal, "Pioneer Artist of Utah." There is also an account of an experience Ottinger had aboard ship, "A Strange Dream and What Came of It." The collection also holds a photocopy of 1863 Pennsylvania Militia discharge papers of Ottinger's brother, John Morris Ottinger. The final part to the collection contains George M. Ottinger's journal, which is 287 pages in length and covers the years 1833-1899.

Summary:The Dorothy Shepherd Van Stipriaan papers (1876-1984) consist of personal and family materials. Included are handbills, artwork, announcements, flyers, poetry, religious materials, and Dorothy's unpublished master's thesis. Dorothy Van Stipriaan (1909-1976) was a member of Salt Lake City's prominent Shepherd family. She was appointed head of the library's Fine Arts Department in 1966.
