Robert S. Olpin papers

Summary:The Robert S. Olpin papers (1899-2005) consist mainly of Olpin's research, writings, teaching, and administrative materials. Robert (Bob) Spencer Olpin (1940-2006) was the dean of the University of Utah's College of Fine Arts and a professor in art history. He served as a consultant for and was a member of many national art organizations. He was also a co-director of the Utah Fine Arts Institute and president of Associated Art Historians, Inc. Also present in the collection are Olpin's writings and research on Utah art and artists. All of Olpin's research materials for his dissertation regarding Alexander Wyant, as well as some personal papers, are also in the collection.

John W. Sugden papers

Summary:John W. Sugden (1922-2003) was an architect and professor of architecture in Utah during the 20th century. Sugden studied at The Illinois Institute of Technology under legendary modern architects Mies van der Rohe and Ludwig Hilberseimer. Sugden worked on a variety of projects, ranging from local to international, and won numerous awards for his work. In addition to his professional work Sugden taught architecture at the University of Utah's Graduate School of Architecture for many years. The collection contains correspondence between Sugden and his clients & contemporaries, research materials on subjects that were of professional interest to Sugden, and architectual blueprints and drawings of the projects he worked on.

Summary:The Joesph Don Carlos Young family papers (1873-1978) contain architectural materials, drawings, correspondence, architecture magazines, and company record books. Don Carlos Young, Jr. was a prominent Salt Lake City architect. In partnership with his father, Joseph Don Carlos Young, 1906-1915 and with Ramm Hansen, 1916-1960.
