Summary:This collection consists only of a microfilmed copy of the Dale Lowell Morgan papers which are held at the Bancroft Library. The microfilm reels consists primarily of correspondence, manuscripts, transcriptions, notes and research. Correspondence concerns Morgan publications, historical research, criticism, and his family. Subjects include Western American history, the fur trade, exploration, California history, Mormon history and bibliography, and current research by others. Summary:The Dale Lowell Morgan papers consists of correspondence, microfilm, photocopies, histories, publication information, and other materials relating to The Mormon bibliography. Included are Morgan's introduction to the the bibliography, the preface by Chad Flake, sample pages, correspondence between the Mormon Bibliography Committee and the University of Utah Press, and histories of how the bibliography evolved. Also inlcuded in the collection are photocopies of his correspondence with Bernard De Voto, materials concerning Western and Mormon history, comments on books written by De Voto and Juanita Brooks, and discussions of the fur trade. Several letters discuss differing interpretations of the mental condition of Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church.

Summary:The Utah Westerners records (1967-2009) includes the organization's bylaws and constitution, a calendar of events, lecture transcripts, correspondence, membership rosters, meeting minutes, field trip itineraries, completed questionnaires, membership applications, speech transcripts, and other documents. This collection also contains files kept by the Utah Westerners for two other organizations: the Fort Douglas Museum Association and Westerner's International. The Utah Westerners was organized in 1967. The major events of this all-male club are monthly lectures and annual field trips. These lectures and field trips allow club members to increase their knowledge of Western American history by addressing topics such as early Utah politics, Native Americans and westward expansion, Mormonism in the nineteenth century, and transportation, colonization, exploration, and communication in the West. The Utah Westerners holds its monthly lectures at the Alta Club in Salt Lake City.

Summary:The Charles I. Wheat papers contain thirteen letters from Dale Morgan to Carl Wheat concerning research in Western history. Also included are transcripts of articles from various Illinois and Iowa newspapers and a proposal for a book by Wheat titled, First Visible Footsteps of the White Man in Death Valley.
