Summary:The Julia Brixen Bertoch papers (1888-1999) contain stories, news articles, pamphlets, excerpts from publications, manuscripts, and other articles pertaining to the writings of Julia Bertoch and the history of Utah and theater. Bertoch is a Utah author, teacher, and philanthropist. She co-wrote, with her husband Marvin J. Bertoch, Modern echoes from ancient hills: our Greek heritage. She also taught speech at Westminster College in Salt Lake City and donated money for the building of Kingsbury Hall at the University of Utah.

Summary:The William C. Seifrit papers (1848-1987) consist of research notes and writings by Seifrit. The bulk of the collection concerns the history of Utah, especially art and photographic history, documented by Seifrit on notecards and in notebooks. Information was taken mainly from early nineteenth century newspapers and magazines. Writings by Seifrit focus on Charles Henry Wilcken (1830-1915), a German deserter from Johnston's Army and friend of George Q. Cannon and Wilford Woodruff, as well as Wilcken's family.

Summary:The southeastern Utah oral histories (1963-1984) consist of personal recollections, in the form of transcripts and stories, from people who lived in southeastern Utah and were part of its history. Each of the stories centers around the individual perspective of the interviewee. The collection covers a wide range of issues from the early Mormon settlements in Mexico to uranium mining or Navajo trading.

Utah Humanities Research Foundation records

Summary:The Utah Humanities Research Foundation records (1944-1954) contain information on cultural materials throughout Utah and neighboring regions. The foundation, funded by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1944, attempted to preserve and collect cultural materials from the area. Fellowships were granted to qualified people for study in various areas of the humanities. The results from these studies are included in the collection. Subjects covered in the collection are autobiographies, biographies, dance, drama, education, folklore, history, Indians, industry, printed materials, photography, and correspondence. Some items from the collection have been digitized and are available online.

Summary:The Wilford Woodruff papers (1833-1898) contain a handwritten document by Woodruff regarding the successions of the Mormon Church Presidency, concerning Orson Hyde and Orson Pratt and their placement in line of succession of the LDS Church. Also included are copies of his journal as well as a revelation from 1877. Wilford Woodruff was the fourth president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
