Summary:The Gallatin County Bicentennial Oral History Project Collection consists of eighty-three tape recorded interviews with senior citizens of Bozeman and Gallatin County. The topics cover a wide variety of historical subjects including: agriculture, amusements, business, industry, merchants, churches, communications, education, electrical power, ethnic groups, the Depression, homemaking, immigrants, Native Americans, medicine, Montana State College, organizations, frontier and pioneer life, politics and government, prominent families, religion, social life and customs, Spanish American War, transportation, weather and natural disasters, World War I, and World War II. Tomlinson Family Collection

Summary:This collection includes ten photocopied books of information compiled by Margaret Strickland, one of the granddaughters of Philo H. and Ida M. Thomas Tomlinson, about her family's early days in the West. She organized them by dates from 1852 to 1975. Each book has family photos and a short history or genealogy of the family written by Margaret Strickland. All of the books contain daily logs from the Tomlinson family's early days traveling to and living in Montana.

Summary:The Tomlinson Family Log Books are a combination of financial and personal records, with diary-like entries, ledger accounts, and even copies of personal and business correspondence occurring sometimes within the same volume. Some material has been laid in the individual numbered volumes, including pages that appear to have been taken from other unidentified volumes the inclusive dates of the eight individual volumes also vary widely and, in some cases, overlap. The information includes weather observations, labor performed by various members of the Tomlinson family and their employees, and money received or distributed by the family or its various business enterprises. Subjects include flour and lumber milling, sales of lumber and other goods, and daily labor tasks performed.
