Anaconda Copper Mining Company records

Summary: This collection consists of records (1876-1974) of the Anaconda Copper Mining Company and contains correspondence, court papers, financial and production records, legal documents, organizational records, subject files, and other materials for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company and many of its predecessor and subsidiary companies and departments. Among the major subgroups are General Office; Big Blackfoot Milling Company; Bitter Root Development Company; Boston and Montana Consolidated Copper and Silver Mining Company; Colorado Smelting and Mining Company; Diamond Coal and Coke Company; Parrot Silver and Copper Company; Reduction Department (Anaconda); Silver Bow Club; Trenton Mining and Development Company; Tuttle Manufacturing and Supply Company; and Washoe Copper Company. In addition, there are more than 100 smaller subgroups.

Summary:The Seaton Ranch Company was organized in Cascade County, Montana, in 1922 by Frank W. Seaton and Theodora E. Seaton, and operated from 1945 to 1965 by their son Edward W. Seaton, and from 1965 to 1970 by his widow Dorothy M. Seaton. Records include financial records (1944-1968), minute and record books (1922, 1942-1968); subject files, primarily concerning the Production Credit Association from 1952 to 1968; and miscellany. There is a small subgroup of records (1939-1960) of The Sanitary Cleaners, in Great Falls.

Summary:John Sheffels (1903-1963) was a Cascade County, Montana, wheat farmer and owner of Sheffels Farms, Inc. He served on the Farm Credit Board, the Montana Grain Producers Association, the Cascade County Wheat Production Control Association, and the State Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA). Collection (1910-1968) includes correspondence, speeches, publications, and subject files concerning wheat production, farming innovations, government agricultural programs, etc. [Photographs transferred to the Photograph Archives. Publications transferred to Library, Montana State Library and University of Montana Library.]

Summary:These U.S. Federal Power Commission records consist of hearing materials in a case involving the failure of the Montana Power Company to apply for a license to operate its hydroelectric dams on the Missouri River and tributaries. Exhibits in the case (including steamboat logs, diaries, articles, clippings, etc.) sought to document whether the Missouri River was navigable above Fort Benton. [FPC Docket #IT-5840.]
