Summary:The Gordon and Peg Alcott papers consist of materials documenting the Alta ski patrol acttivities of Gordon and Peg Alcott. Included are notes, ski patrol manuals, avalanche rescue manuals, clippings concerning ski patrol activities, and a scrapbook of promotional materials about the Alta ski resort (1971-1972). Also included is a brochure from the 1936 Winter Olympics in Germany. Gordon Alcott was an original member of the ski patrol at the Alta Ski Resort. Peg Alcott also served on the Alta ski patrol.

Summary:The Brighton Ski Resort records (1915-2000) contain a master plan, brochures, season pass forms, trial maps, posters, articles, news clippings, ski passes, and typescript histories detailing the development of both Brighton, Utah and Brighton Ski Resort. The first serviced ski area in Utah was created at Brighton in 1936. The resort area has been expanded to cover 850 acres today.

Summary:The Melvin Henry Fletcher papers (1918-1997) contain a color copy of Fletcher's lifetime scrapbook, which consists of certificates, awards, news clippings, and a column written by Mel while living in San Diego. Fletcher was born in Park City, Utah in 1918. He served twice in the U.S. Navy and wrote a column in Aircraft Mechanic about ice skating events. He competed in ski jumping and was well-known in the skiing community.

Included are meeting minutes, financial records, newsletters, correspondence, and reports. The Intermountain Ski Instructors Association was formed in 1950. The purpose of the organization was to promote skiing by providing competent ski instructors.

Summary:The Earl Andrew Miller papers (1942-1995) contains material on Miller and his company, the Miller Ski Company of Orem, Utah. In the 1950s Miller developed an early release binding for Alpine skiing. A later patent for the ski brake revolutionized the sport of Alpine skiing. Most of the documents in the collection are photocopied newspaper articles. There are several brochures used as marketing tools for various ski products, several early photographs (photocopies) of Miller, and two booklets written by Miller promoting ski safety.

Summary:The Jean and Wilburn Pickett papers (1961-1998) contain correspondence, entry applications, score cards, news clippings, posters, trail maps, brochures, and editions of the Alta Powder News, detailing both the history of Alta, Utah, and Alta's Gelande ski jump competitions as well as other intermountain ski racing and jumping events. Jean and Wilburn Pickett were associated with skiing at Alta for many years. Wilburn began publishing the Alta Powder News in the 1960s. After his death in 1983, Jean Pickett became the editor and chief writer for the newsletter.
