Summary:The Clyde Eddy collection contains 14 photographs, a postcard and documents relating to Clyde Eddy’s 1927 expedition down the Colorado River. The 14 photographs depict Clyde Eddy, their boats the Dellenbagh and Coronado, and the crew which was made up of Robert H. Weatherhead, John H. Marshall, Frederick L. Felton, Edward L. Holt, Vincent F. Callaway, Robert F. Bartl, Vincent F. Carey, O.A. Seager, W. Gordon Adger, Bradley-Camera Man, Parley Galloway-River Guide, and McGregory. Two of the photos have an International News stamp on the back. The collection also contains a postcard depicting Clyde Eddy and captioned “Just ran in to wish you a Merry Christmas.”

Summary:The Henry F. Keyes Photograph Album and Diary contains snapshots and journal entries taken by Keyes taken during a hike through southwest Montana. The album contains images of the steamship North Land, Mackinac Island, the North Dakota Badlands, Bozeman, Bridger Canyon, Gallatin Canyon, Lone Peak, Virginia City, the Red Rock valley, Sawtell's Ranch at Henry's Lake, Upper Geyser Basin, and Lake Yellowstone. People pictured are Keyes and his companions, Edward C. Alderson, Jack Bean, and Felix G. White. The diary entries make note of the scenery, the content of his meals, and even the time of day when certain described events occurred. Many of his fellow students are mentioned, and geographic details and wildlife sightings recorded.

Summary:Consists of 101 color and black and white images of the adventures of three Minnesota young women working in Yellowstone National Park in the summer of 1951. Some of the images are commercially produced and some are personal snapshots. The album includes written narration. Images inside the park are of Old Faithful Lodge, Tower Falls, and the upper and lower Yellowstone Falls. Pictures from outside the park include West Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Shoshone Dam, the Buffalo Bill statue in Cody, Wyoming, and the Beartooth Highway Summit.

Summary:The Snyder Sisters Travel Album collection documents a 1941 trip made by sisters Emma A. Snyder (1871-1965) and Mae Snyder (1867-1950) to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. The album consists of 60 hand colored images as well as postcards, commercial travel items, letters, and original narratives. Emma and Mae worked as school teachers in Baltimore, Maryland. The items are arranged in a photograph album with each item labeled. In addition to visiting Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, the sisters also visited other Western sites such as the Buffalo Bill Memorial in Cody, Wyoming, Pike’s Peak, and Colorado Springs.

Summary:The W. Eugene Smith collection consists of 71 black and white prints from the Life magazine photo archive. The images include: actors, artists, authors, and musicians such as Charlie Chaplin, Elia Kazan, Arthur Miller, Henry Fonda, and Bruno Walter; WWII Pacific Theatre (Okinawa and Iwo Jima) and Pearl Harbor Naval Yard views; New Mexico images from Taos and Santa Fe; scenes from plays including A Sleep of Prisoners, Edward, My Son, 20th Century, and The Green Pastures; and selected shots from his photo essays such as, “Bowery Bum of the Month, British Pre-Elections,” and “Trial by Jury.”

William J. Foreman Diary

Summary:The William J. Foreman diary is a positive photocopy of two pages from a diary kept by Foreman that record a trip he took to Yellowstone National Park on August 12 through 14, 1897. The description of the journey and countryside is sparse and the only mention of wildlife is an encounter with a skunk at a camp on the Gibbon River.

Summary:The Wylie Permanent Camping Company Yellowstone Lake Tourist Register dates from June 18, 1904 through September 10, 1909. The ledger contains the signatures of guests who stayed at the facility. The first thirty-six pages of the ledger were used as a scrapbook by a previous owner; what remains of the newspaper and magazine clipping fragments does not entirely obscure the handwritten entries.
