The David J. Bailey Reminiscence consists of a Carbon typescript copy of an original reminiscence written by Bailey in 1900. The text describes Bailey's journey from Indiana to Montana in 1865 and his experiences as a rancher, teacher, merchant, and public servant.
The Maynard Family Collection consists of three reminiscences includes a typewritten transcription of Maynard's reminiscences include information on: Maynard's overland journey of 1864; early descriptions of Virginia City and the Alder Gulch area; farming and ranching experiences in the Madison Valley; various trips to Yellowstone National Park in the 1870s. Also included are photocopies of Maynard family genealogical data.
The Malphus A. Switzer Reminiscence recalls the trip the Switzer family made from Michigan City, Indiana to Iowa in 1854, and then describes another trip, made in 1865, from Victor, Iowa to Virginia City, Montana Territory.
