Summary:Alice Henson Ernst was an American author, playwright, and teacher, at University of Washington, 1920-1923, and University of Oregon, 1924-1950, who had special interests in the history of the early theater of the Pacific Northwest and masked ritual dances of Northwest Coast tribes. Collection comprises correspondence, including letters from Franz Boas; manuscripts of books, plays, essays, and poems; diaries and notebooks, 1909-1964; playbills; broadsides; and photographs, most relating to Native American masks.

Summary:Albert M. Ottenheimer was an actor, author and a founder of the Seattle Repertory Playhouse, and founding member of the Seattle local of the American Federation of Radio Artists. Collection consists of investigation files relating to Albert M. Ottenheimer's blacklisting during the McCarthy era, including a diary Ottenheimer kept during his 30-day jail sentence; correspondence; literary manuscripts; scripts for television, radio, and the theater; scripts by others; professional file, including a log book and other material relating to the Seattle Repertory Playhouse; travel diary and souvenirs collected during his European tour of West Side Story; union material; memorabilia; photographs and audio-visual material.

Summary:Edward A. Rumely (1882-1964) was a physician, a progressive educator, and a political activist. He was an outspoken opponent of the New Deal, active in stabilizing farm prices, a central figure in several powerful Constitutional organizations, and the respondent in a landmark First Amendment case, U.S. v. Rumely. The Rumely papers are part of the Conservative and Libertarian collections.
