Butte Tombstone Company Records

Summary:The Butte Tombstone Company was incorporated in 1903 to carve and sell stone for burial monuments and construction. The company eventually opened offices in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena and Missoula, Montana, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. The collection contains business records (1903-1967) including general and interoffice correspondence (1905-1910), account and cash books (1917-1920), general ledgers (1906-1917), organizational records (1903-1967); and subject files (1905-1924). The subject files include customer and supply orders that provide excellent information for genealogy, including deceased persons name, next of kin, dates of birth and death, and the shape, size and location of the monument.

Summary:Edmund Craney was a pioneer in Montana radio broadcasting. He was affiliated with Pacific Northwest Broadcasting; XL radio stations of Spokane, Portland, Butte, Bozeman, and Missoula; and the Z Bar network. This collection (1920-1970) consists of correspondence, financial records, subject files, printed materials, yearbooks, clippings, and legal documents.

Holter Family papers

Summary: Anton M. Holter (1831-1921) was a pioneer Helena, Montana, lumberman and founder of the A.M. Holter Hardware Company. Papers (1831-1921) include correspondence, and organizational and financial records relating to mining, agriculture, lumber, real estate, and oil interests of three generations of the family, headed successively by Anton M. Holter, Norman B. Holter, and Norman J. "Jeff" Holter. Many of the enterprises were in partnership with Samuel T. Hauser. Interests include the A.M. Holter Hardware Company; Holter Realty; Holter Research Foundation; Judith Farms; Montana Flour Mills; and the Helena and Frisco, Helena and Victor, the Maginnis mining companies, and many others.

Collection (1868-1950) includes personal, business, and political correspondence plus financial and legal papers of many of his business enterprises. Collection documents Power's involvement in military and Indian trade, steamboating, freighting, stage coach lines, mail contracts, cattle and sheep ranching, mining, banking, bridge building, townsite development, and other enterprises.
