Summary:Collection consists of files on various organizations in which McKay was involved or interested, such as the American Legion, the Oregon Automobile Dealers Association, and the Oregon Mounted Posse. There are political files, including material for the 1948 and 1950 campaigns for governor and a file on the Eisenhower campaign of 1952. The files of the Secretary of the Interior consist of letters, a trip file, appointment books, and miscellaneous personal correspondence. There is a complete file of McKay's speeches when he was Secretary of the Interior. The records of the McKay-Morse campaign consist of correspondence, financial records, and campaign literature.

The collection contains senatorial papers, 1944-1968, research material, arbitration decisions, speeches, financial material, mementos and personal and general correspondence.

Karl Onthank conservation papers

Summary:Karl William Onthank (1890-1968) joined the University of Oregon staff in 1916 and held various posts until he became associate dean of students in charge of job placement in 1948, a position he held until his retirement in l957. In 1954 Karl and Ruth Onthank, together with other outdoor and conservation activists, formed the Friends of the Three Sisters Wilderness (F3S). He served as president of the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs from 1955 to 1957, and helped organize the Save the McKenzie River Association and served as its vice-president. The Karl Onthank Conservation Papers include materials relating to the proposed Beaver Marsh hydroelectric project, the Oregon Dunes National Seashore proposal, the Three Sisters Wilderness Area, and Waldo Lake. The collection also includes documents relating to a number of associations and committees with which Onthank was involved, and correspondence that records in depth the plans and projects in which Onthank participated.

The materials were compiled, and some created, by Gerald H. Robinson, an attorney and photographer from Portland, Oregon. Robinson worked for Morse as an advisor and attorney.

The collection contains correspondence, speeches, a personal journal, political biographical files, State Department's Policy Planning Council and United Nations subject files, reviews and publicity for State Department publications by Savage, a volume of hearings before the House Judiciary Subcommittee concerning a declaration of war, and photographs.
