Bozeman Deaconess Hospital Records

Summary:The Bozeman Deaconess Hospital records include minutes of the hospital staff meetings from 1919 to 1933, hospital admission and discharge records, printed and manuscript reports from 1914 through 1939, hospital fund raising documentation from 1916 to 1928; and other miscellaneous materials. The records also include legal documents pertaining to the operation and construction of the hospital's retirement home, Hillcrest Retirement Community, 1961-1968. Also included are materials from the nursing education program administered first by the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital itself and, after 1937, in partnership with the Montana State College.

Wallis Huidekoper Collection

Summary:The Wallis Huidekoper Collection consists a selection of letters exchanged between Dr. Merrill G. Burlingame and Wallis Huidekoper regarding the editing of an oral history interview conducted in 1954, a 1929 letter from Edward Douglas Branch thanking Huidekoper for his favorable comments on The Hunting of the Buffalo (New York: D. Appleton and Co., 1929) and a 1938 letter from Martin S. Garretson, again thanking Huidekoper for favorable comments on his book, The American Bison (New York: New York Zoological Society, 1938). Also included are edited versions of an oral history interview with Huidekoper conducted by Elizabeth DeFrate and Merrill G. Burlingame on July 26, 1954 and transcribed from an audio tape, a typed bibliography of Huidekoper's articles, along with two original manuscripts he wrote concerning artist Charles M. Russell has been placed in a separate folder. Other materials include printed brochures and pamphlets written by or pertaining to Huidekoper' father, Henry Shippen Huidekoper and newspaper clippings pertaining to historic sites in the Germantown, Pennsylvania area, Wallis Huidekoper, Theodore Roosevelt, and ranching in North Dakota and Montana. Six photographs of North Dakota badlands residents circa 1880s and the Huidekoper ranch near Big Timber, Montana, circa 1956, complete the collection.

Summary:The Montana Institute of the Arts Bozeman History Group Collection contains compact disc recordings taken from the original reel-to-reel and cassette magnetic recordings of their meetings, their interviews with selected individuals, and their special projects such as radio dramatizations from 1948 to 1977. Also included in the series are meeting notes and transcripts, and administrative files of the Montana Institute of the Arts along with materials pertaining to the groups special projects.

Summary:The Montana State College, Office of the President Annual Reports Received comprise a collection of prepared statements created by various academic and administrative subdivisions of the school from 1921 to 1968, the bulk of which were issued prior to the 1965 establishment of the school as a university. These subdivisions include academic departments, schools, divisions, and colleges, along with academic support units such as the registrar and student health center.

Summary:The I. D. O'Donnell Papers include diaries, correspondence, business records, literary manuscripts, postcard albums, subject files, and photographs. Correspondence includes letters from Montana State College, the U. S. Department of Agriculture, U. S. Reclamation Service, U. S. House and Senate Committees on Beet Sugar Industry, Montana Irrigation and Drainage Institute, and the Secretary of the Interior, Franklin K. Lane. O'Donnell received letters from Montana political leaders such as Under Secretary of the Department of Agriculture M. L. Wilson, U. S. Senators Thomas J. Walsh and Henry L. Myers, U. S. Representative John M. Evans, and Governors J. E. Erickson and F. H. Cooney. Manuscripts include articles on agriculture, livestock, and farm management, and the column "Hints from the Practical Farmer" written for the Reclamation Record, as well as manuscripts O'Donnell collected for research on topics such as alfalfa, birds, irrigation, sugar beets, dairy cattle, soil, weeds, ranch management, and hogs. O'Donnell also collected material on topics such as Billings and Montana history, various irrigation projects in Montana, and agriculture. The collection also contains business records from the Minnesota and Montana Land and Improvement Company, the Frederick Billings estate, and the Hesper Farm. The collection also contains postcards and travel brochures from O'Donnell's various travels.
