The scientists shared information about the changing climate, including how it affects communities. The project received USU IRB approval: 9676.

Summary:The Great Salt Lake Wetlands History Project is a joint effort of Utah State University (USU), Weber State University, Westminster College, and the University of Utah. The project’s aim was to gather oral histories, photographs of material culture and wetlands culture, and records to document the fascinating history of the Great Salt Lake wetlands (GSLW) and the people who work and play along its shores and marshes as well as to enhance the existing GSLW collections at the four institutions. During Utah State University’s collecting day at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge on May 6, 2017, USU Special Collections & Archives, folklore curator interviewed community scholars about their experiences on the Great Salt Lake. The collection includes eight interviews, images, and associated release forms.

Hebeler’s book on American Indian customs appears to never have been realized, though the collection contains correspondence between Hebeler and an interested publisher.

He was also an academic, working at the Church College of Hawaii and eventualy becoming Dean of the Technical Institute at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. This collection contains photographs and slides, both professional and personal, from his travels and places of occupation.

Summary:La Creole Academic Institute was built in 1846 between the towns of La Creole and Dallas, Oregon as a non-sectarian, liberal arts college; the name of the school would later change to La Creole Academy. The collection (1892) contains student essays hand-written on Academy writing stationery on physical geography, rhetoric, algebra, Latin, the solar system, and book keeping subjects. The collection also includes a journal of the minutes of the faculty of Dallas College, dating from 1904 to 1914.

Summary:The University of Oregon began offering a business curriculum in 1884. Originally called the School of Commerce, it was renamed the School of Business Administration in 1920. In 1993, the department was renamed the Lundquist College of Business (LCB) in honor of alumnus and generous donor Charles H. Lundquist. The collection includes records from the Dean’s Office (1920-1952; 1958-1988) as well as records of the school’s work with local businesses, universities, and government agencies in Oregon and Lane County (i.e. the Lane Transit District, Bonneville Power Administration, and the Lane County development program). Also included are records from past and present departments/partner organizations of the LCB, including the Bonneville Power Administration, Business and Construction (a joint program between LCB and AAA), Bureau of Business and Economic Research, Consumer Research Center, Innovation and Science Foundation, Marketing Advisory Council, and Phi Chi Theta. Material includes office and financial files, photographs, correspondence, annual reports, surveys, questionnaires, and staff meeting minutes.

Summary:Charles McKinley was a professor of political science at Reed College in Portland, Oregon from 1918 to 1960. He was particularly interested in the theory and practice of public administration and planning. As a specialist in these fields, he often served on government committees and commissions and he also wrote studies on the impact of the Federal government in the Pacific Northwest. The collection consists of files accumulated for specific projects undertaken for government or private agencies, or for personal research. Included are correspondence, minutes, reports, memoranda, position papers, interviews, and documents relating to such groups as the Bonneville Power Administration; California Department of Water Resources; Department of Agriculture Administrative Council; National Planning Board; and the Oregon State Board of Forestry.

Summary:Dr. Herbert C. Miller, D.D.S., M.D., was born in 1864, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the Missouri Dental College in 1885 and from the St. Louis Medical College in 1887. Dr. Miller founded the North Pacific College of Dentistry in 1898. As president, he gave North Pacific College of Dentistry to the State of Oregon in 1945. He died, December 20, 1947, at his new home, Newport, Oregon. The collection consists of personal papers and photographs and professional documents from Herbert Miller's career as an early dentist in the Pacific Northwest.

The records say much about the wide ranging duties of the early presidents of the institution and the slow relinquishment of some activities as the faculty and administrative infrastructure grew.

The bulk of this collection consists of budgets, building files, correspondence, internal audits, memoranda, minutes, and reports from the administrations of Dee Andersen (1974-1976), Stanford Bohne (1977), and Walt Gnemi (1977-1992). This collection also contains some material from the administrations of Brigham Madsen (1967-1972) and Ted E. Davis (1973-1974).
