Robert S. Kelly was a miner from Deer Lodge, Montana, who was appointed U.S. Marshall for Montana Territory in 1885. The collection consists of a letterbook of his outgoing U.S. Marshall correspondence, other correspondence, and one diagram of Deer Lodge.
The collection contains former Montana State Forester Gareth C. Moon’s personal papers and materials related to the preparation of his book, A History of Montana State Forestry (Mountain Press Publishing Company, 1991).
John Willis was a western pioneer who lived in Colorado, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Alberta; he settled for a time in Montana. The collection consists of his journal, which documents his time in the West.
