Collection Title:Singin' Sam Agins photograph collection

Summary:Photographs from the 1940s to the 1980s and photographic postcards with images from the 19th century. The majority are black & white silver gelatin prints, 8" x 10" or smaller, although there are a few color prints and a large number of postcards. There is a total of 105 photographs (11 in color), 126 black and white proof sheets, 59 postcards (1 in color), 76 black and white negatives, and 18 posters. The majority of the images range from 1960 to 1980 and consist of the various places and festivals where Agins performed, the people that he performed with, and photos used in the photo-essay, Round Legs. Also includes photographs of a portrait of Agins painted by John Henry Waddell. Many of the photos were taken by Frederica Agins, some by professional photographers and event photographers, and a few by Agins' fans. The postcards are reproductions of 19th century "old west" images including Buffalo Bill, Native Americans, cowboys, stagecoaches, etc. Many of the photographs have negatives.

Summary:The LaVell Cooley Photograph Collection consists of 736 artistic and personal photographs (both black & white and color) taken by this career military man and Utah State University graduate. Included in the collection are a few early shots of the Utah State University campus, but the bulk consists of views taken while on military assignment in the Virgin Islands (including Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Dutch Guinea, Haiti, and Jamaica) as well as national parks (including Monument Valley, Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Zion National Park), mountain scenes, and the California coast. Cooley and his wife Gwendolyn appear in many of the images. More Cooley photographs (including black and white and color 16mm film of national parks) can be found in the unprocessed photographs.

Summary:Twenty-nine black & white copy prints made from the original images owned by LuAnn Ferrin. The photographs show her grandparents, Elmer Baugh Lear and Luella Reddish Lear, their families, scenes in Lund, Burley, Pocatello, and Lava Hot Springs in Idaho, and Logan, Moroni, and Mendon in Utah. The collection dates from 1860 to 1942.

Summary:Consists of 52 photographs, mainly portraits of this prominent Cache Valley family. Included are samples of historic photographic processes and formats such as albumen prints, cartes-de-visite, cabinet cards, and tintypes. A genealogical chart is included in box 2.

Summary:Personal photographs and books of remembrance of Andrew L. Heggie and his wife Corinne Godfrey Heggie spanning from the late nineteenth century through the 1990s. A photographic record of LDS missions, LDS church activity, family, and friends are also included. Includes both black & white and color photographs. Because of the nature of the books, many documents such as Birth certificates, school certificates, greeting cards, weddings announcements, and personal reminiscences are also included.

Summary:216 images from the family of Cyrus E. and Mary Jane Napper. Most of the images were taken in Logan and Logan Canyon, Utah, although a few appear to be from Salt Lake City. Included are photographs of downtown Logan, the Logan Temple, Utah State University, bridges, parades, and members of the Napper family. Although most of the people in the photographs are not identified, Cyrus E., Mary Jane, Harry Felix, Doud Byron, Eiffel May and George C. Napper are probably included in the collection. The pictures were most likely taken by Harry Felix and his father Cyrus E. Napper between 1895 and 1905. Includes the original glass plate and nitrate negatives.

Summary: Consists of "real photograph," linen, and various other types of postcards. Most of the images are of Utah or the Inter-mountain West and date from 1900 to 1940. Also includes portraits and images of Mormon religious and historic sites.

Summary:Black and white and color negatives, transparencies, and prints Many of these images document Utah State University campus buildings and activities from the 1930s through the late 1960s and many of which were published in the Buzzer yearbooks. Also included in the collection are images of Cache Valley; Southern Utah; Bear Lake; Mesa, Arizona; Santa Barbara, California; Park City, Utah; Salt Lake City; and examples of Reynold's pioneering use of photographic documentation for scientific and agricultural studies. Portraiture, still lifes, photographic color studies, art classes and workshops, personal photographs (many with the Stark family at Christmas), and various theater productions round out the remainder of the collection.

Summary:Color and black & white photographs taken by Peter F. Schmid. The subjects are historic sites and events from 1991 to 1995 of Cache Valley (Utah and Idaho). Included in this collection are photographs taken of the emptying of First Dam ca. 1992, road construction on U.S. Highway 89/91 at Dry Lake, and the restoration of St. John's Episcopal Church in 1994. Also housed are proof sheets of the Twin Lakes Canal Company tour, prints of the Lime Kiln north of Mantua, photographs of the plaques and sidewalk markers at Utah State University, and aerial shots of Cache Valley taken in 1993. Negatives are available for most of the photographs.

Summary:The Gary Smith Photo Collection consists of 10,719 color and black and white photos, negatives, slides, and transparencies as well as articles and some publicity material. The collection spans from 1960 to 1988 and is divided roughly into five parts. The first part are images from Smith's work and outdoor excursions in the Sawtooth Wilderness Area, Canyonlands National Park, (what is now) the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and the Cache-Wasatch National Forest. Also included are many images of Rock Art. The Second part consists of images taken for or used in the Windsinger book. The third part are images from Smith's years in the Marines including his time in Okinawa and Taiwan. The Fourth part are images of his family, his travels in the U.S. and of his wife, Lillian Francuz. The fifth part are images he took for the Red Baron air-racing team located in Idaho Falls. As well, Smith did quite a bit of outdoor portraiture in Cache Valley. Some of the images pertain to his activism with environmental issues such as the Four Corners Power Plant.
