Summary: The Paul Beckett Papers consists of materials collected by Paul Beckett on political science associations of which he was a member, Washington state legislation, and his trip to Pakistan in 1957. This collection includes newspaper articles, essays, correspondence, reports, and personal notes from his time at Washington State University and during his time in Pakistan and Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan) as the public administration consultant to the planning board of the Pakistani government, which at that time included East Pakistan.

Summary:In fall 1948, Muse became an instructor in the department of history and political science at Washington State University. By 1956, he had become chair of the newly formed department of history, a position he held until his retirement in 1979. The collection primarily contains professional correspondence sent and received during Ray Muse's first 25 years in Pullman. It includes documentation of his departmental and on-campus involvements and those off of the Washington State University campus.
 
Collection Title:Fermen Layton Pickett Papers

Summary:Fermen Layton Pickett (1881-1940) was a professor of botany at Washington State University from 1914 until his death. He was also a skilled photographer and one of the few in the 1920s who photographed a large number of natural features. The papers consists of Pickett's photographs and his botanical notes. Many of the photographs are of vegetation, both individual specimens and habitats. Others stress the natural features of Washington and Oregon, especially Eastern Washington. Pickett's botanical notes, consist of field and accession notebooks for his personal herbarium.

Summary:Frank Fraser Potter (1879-1959) was a member of the faculty at Washington State College from 1912 to 1949. He was WSC's first professor of philosophy. Irene Eleanora Michet (1889-1971) joined the faculty of the WSC English Department in 1927. She married Frank Potter in 1929. Both of the Potters were actively involved in the campus community. This collection consists of materials related to Frank and Irene Potter which came into the possession of Ruth Slonim, their colleague and friend, after Irene Potter's death.

Summary:Ruth Slonim came to the State College of Washington in 1947 and taught modern poetry and English literature. Slonim published five volumes of poetry, including "Outer Traces, Inner Places" (1981) which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. The collection includes Slonim's personal papers as well as materials related to her career and writing.
