The correspondence files cover 1912 to 1916, the letterpress book (Volume 1 in the collection) covers 1899 to 1905, and the subject files provide most of the information on these enterprises, with particular emphasis on Northwest mining. The family correspondence, in addition to the letters to and from relatives and friends in Indiana, continues after Davidson's death, with letters from daughter Marjorie, a Christian Science practitioner in Paris, college letters from son Philip, and college and army letters from grandson Jack, prior to his transfer to overseas duty in 1942. He attended the University of Oregon from 1936-1939. In 1939, Mrs. Davidson gave the University of Oregon an issue of the Oregon spectator. One of her family members published this paper during the 1850s and a short biography of his life is included in the collection, plus his first-hand account of the Indian War of 1855-1856 (see David Jacob Schnebly).
