Summary:James Daugherty (1889-1974) was a muralist, author, and illustrator who won the Newbery Medal in 1940 for his children's book, Daniel Boone , and was a runner-up for two Caldecott Medals. The collection is primarly comprised of artwork, but also includes manuscripts and other writings (including several by Sonia Daugherty and Charles Daugherty), correspondence, notebooks and sketchbooks, news clippings and ephemera, and photographs.

Summary:Collection comprises mostly artwork associated with children's book author and illustrator Marjorie Flack, including 13 sketchbooks, book illustrations, and works of other artists. The earliest dated Flack work is from 1907. Book illustrations include those for Angus and the Cat; Ask Mr. Bear; Wait for William; and Taktuk, an Arctic Boy. Some other artists represented by original works are William Rose Benét, Harrison Cady, and Stow Wengenroth. There are Harper's magazine posters, various World War II posters, a few letters, a story file including a 3-page story by Flack's daughter Hilma Larsson, a photograph file, and miscellaneous maps, diplomas, and pamphlets.

Stored in the Architecture and Allied Arts Library in Lawrence Hall, the works are arranged chronologically by year, then alphabetically by creator. They were created using various media, including charcoal, watercolor, and blueprint, and range in size from 18” x 28” to 46” x 72”.

The Salem Water Department materials cover the history of the department and Salem's water supply, as well as speech transcripts. The collection includes two solander cases of oversize materials.
