Hilda E. Drum photograph collection

Summary:Mrs. Drum enrolled at the University of Oregon Medical School in the X-Ray Technology program where she received her degree. Upon graduation, she stayed on as a technician and was appointed Chief Technician in July 1943, by Dr. Burton, then Head of the Department of Radiology. In 1954, Mrs. Drum was appointed a member of the Faculty of the University of Oregon Medical School as an instructor. She received a promotion to Assistant Professor, and then eventually became a full Professor. She was very active in Oregon and American Societies of X-Ray Technicians. She held different state offices and worked on many committees on the State and National levels. She served three terms as President of the Oregon Society, the last in 1956. Mrs. Hilda E. Drum retired from her teaching post at the UOMS in 1973, after 32 years of service. She died on October 9, 1999 at the age of 96. Her collection contains many textual and visual elements from the years she was active at the University of Oregon medical School.

Daniel H. Labby historical image collection

Summary:Daniel H. Labby, a private practice physician from Portland, OR, assembled the scrapbook in 1939 during his graduating year at the University of Oregon Medical School. The scrapbook contains images of the campus, faculty and his fellow students. Videocassettes (2) from the Class of 1939 50th Reunion and a memorial photogasph album (assembled by Labby) are included in the collection. Labby was also Professor of Medicine at the University of Oregon Medical School from 1958 through 1971 and has served as a professor of psychiatry and medicine at the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center/Oregon Health Sciences University from 1972 to the present.

Herbert C. Miller Papers

Summary:Dr. Herbert C. Miller, D.D.S., M.D., was born in 1864, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the Missouri Dental College in 1885 and from the St. Louis Medical College in 1887. Dr. Miller founded the North Pacific College of Dentistry in 1898. As president, he gave North Pacific College of Dentistry to the State of Oregon in 1945. He died, December 20, 1947, at his new home, Newport, Oregon. The collection consists of personal papers and photographs and professional documents from Herbert Miller's career as an early dentist in the Pacific Northwest.
