Edward R. Geary papers

Geary, a pioneer missionary and Presbyterian minister who served as Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Oregon and Washington State from 1859 to 1861, founded Albany College, and was a Regent of the University of Oregon. Includes correspondence, writings, and financial records, including copies of letters from Geary's brother, John W. Geary; papers relating to the Oregon Central Railroad; papers relating to the estate of John Webster Perit Huntington; and detailed expenditure reports from the Oregon Office of Indian Affairs, 1859-1861.

Summary:Edwin William Hampton, from Portland, Oregon, a private in Company H, Oregon Volunteer Infantry, is said to have been the first Oregon soldier killed in the Spanish-American War's Philippines campaign. The letters, with few exceptions, are to and from family members. During the war Hampton was at Presidio, Calif., and in Manila, P.I.

Summary:James Francis Ivory (1928-) is an American director best known for the films he made as part of Merchant Ivory Productions, the production company he formed with his longtime collaborators producer Ismail Merchant and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. The James Ivory Papers comprise his personal and professional papers, and include material relating to Ivory's feature films, television programs and commercials, Merchant Ivory Productions materials (including papers of Ismail Merchant and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala), and Ivory's published and unpublished writings, including literary and artistic work done while Ivory was a college student at the University of Oregon. The collection includes correspondence, screenplays, treatments, storyboards, production notes, promotional material, legal and financial notes, articles, reviews, sketchbooks, notebooks and photographs.
