This collection documents the Calbreath and Smith families, both pioneer families in Oregon. The collection contains incoming and outgoing correspondence, diaries, account books, day books, and manuscripts of poetry and prose by Irene Smith Calbreath.
Papers of a pioneer Methodist missionary in Oregon who was active in Oregon City and later at The Dalles and Salem. Includes correspondence with missionaries Jason and Daniel Lee, materials relating to a land dispute with John McLoughlin and other land claims, organization of the Oregon Provisional Government, teaching activities, and the establishment of Willamette University. Also includes Waller's diary of his journey to Oregon on the ship Lausanne, 1839-1840, and 2 additional diaries covering the years 1841-1845.
Mason Young Warner was born in 1868, the son of parents Agnes Stewart and Thomas Warner. Mason Y. Warner married Celia A. Hyland in 1894. The couple lived in Lane County all their lives, except for a short time spent in eastern Washington. They had three children, Ivan, Claire and Erma. The collection is composed mainly of correspondence, some personal files, and photographs. Most extensive in this collection is the Claire Warner Churchill Thompson material in Series IV. Her papers include many manuscripts and material from World War II.
