Historical NoteReturn to Top

In 1904, local Cache Valley entrepreneurs organized the Cache Commercial Club. As stated in the Club's 1905 yearbook: "The object and purpose of the corporation ... is to promote the general prosperity and to develop the various interests and natural resources of Cache Valley; to procure, preserve, and disseminate information in relation to commercial, industrial, and financial affairs that may be of general interest and value; to secure uniformity in commercial laws and customs; to facilitate business intercourse and to promote equitable principles" (Cache Commercial Club 1905 Yearbook, p. 1). The club, based in Logan, Utah, elected officers and organized committees to oversee various projects in the Cache Valley area. These committees worked to secure and promote commerce, new industries, immigration, mining, agriculture, railroading, public welfare, electricity, education, and art and literature.

In May 1909, a separate entity, the Logan Boosters Club organized with objectives similar to the Cache Commercial Club. With the sudden emergence of the Boosters Club conflict arose between the two commercial organizations. At the time, some felt the Logan Boosters Club had been organized in order to further aid the Cache Commercial Club, while others saw it as a competitor. In order to avoid difficulties the two organizations merged in December, becoming known as the Commercial-Boosters Club.

In 1920 the Commercial-Boosters Club became The Logan Chamber of Commerce. The Logan Chamber of Commerce was "not organized for pecuniary profit; but to advance the growth, welfare, and commercial interests of Logan City and Cache Valley, Utah, and to encourage and assist in social, civic, and relief work therein"(Articles of Incorporation, 1928, p. 5).

In 1950, The Logan Chamber of Commerce became the Cache Chamber of Commerce, incorporated under the laws of Utah. Since 1950, the Cache Chamber of Commerce has carried on the role of its predecessors, seeking to promote the development of Cache Valley.
