Historical NoteReturn to Top
Leslie L. Like was born in 1897 in Great Falls, Montana. After he attended grade school in Butte, Montana, his parents moved to Granite County, where they were homesteaders near Drummond, Montana. Like enlisted in 1919 but he never served overseas. Upon his return, he operated the branch agency of the Continental Oil Company in Drummond for two years and he later had a 640-acre homestead in Powell County. Like also worked as a retail salesman with the Faust Mercantile Company in Drummond. He was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad when he became postmaster in 1924. He held this position until 1957. He was also the proprietor of Drummond's Dreamland Theatre. Like died in 1971

Manuscript, written in 1964 for the Montana Territorial Centennial, chronicling the history of Drummond and the nearby communities of Hall, New Chicago, and others. It describes many early day residents, organizations, institutions, and events.
