The collection contains transcripts of selected letters received and sent by Alfred B. Meacham and T.B. Odeneal regarding the management of the Siletz Reservation, including the Alsea Sub-Agency, and the Grand Ronde Agency and Reservation. Subjects of the correspondence include the appointment of Joel Palmer as Superintendent of the Siletz Agency, the allotment of land on the Siletz and Grand Ronde Reservations, and the consolidation of the Siletz and Alsea Agencies. Additional focuses include marriage practices and legislation, liquor trafficking, and the removal of Meacham as Superintendent in 1872. Transcripts were created by the Yale University Library.
