Historical NoteReturn to Top

Sybil Westenhouse was born in Eugene, Oregon. Her paternal family has lived on a farm east of Scio since 1894, and, since the turn of the century, her maternal family has lived in the Salem, Dallas, and Independence areas. While in Salem, Sybil attended Englewood Elementary for three years. She later attended Oregon State College and received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Retired from teaching, she has been able to devote more of her time to the pursuit of historical information in depth, including doing research for classroom history projects. Sybil continues to volunteer on the Salem Public Library Advisory Board and the Northwest Neighborhood Association Board.
