Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Peggy Copeland Corley, born circa 1930, graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, in the class of 1952. During her time at Whitman, she was a member of the social sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, held student office, and paricipated in many other on-campus activities. After graduation, she served as the first chair of the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board, and remained on the board until 1980. She worked for other historic preservation societies as well, including in Walla Walla, which included work to preserve Whitman College's Memorial Building. She was awarded the Victor Steinbrueck Lifetime Achievement Award in Preservation in 1999, and the Gordon Scribner Award for Distinguished Service in 2015.
