Mount St. Helens is part of the Cascade Mountain Range, located in Washington State. The mountain had a major eruption on May 18, 1980. 57 people were killed, and 200 homes, 47 bridges, 15 miles of railways and 185 miles of highways were destroyed. The eruption reduced Mt. St. Helen's summit from 9,677 ft. to 8,364 ft.
