Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Liu Dehai (1937-2020) was a pipa player from Beijing, China. He studied pipa under Lin Shicheng before entering the Central Conservatory of Music in 1957. After graduating in 1962, he became music professor and performed in more than 30 countries around the world. He was known for developing new playing techniques and for his mastery of the chinese traditional and guoyue genres.
