Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Pandit Devabrata (Debu) Chaudhuri (1935-) is a Sitarist, teacher, and author from Mymensing, Bangladesh. He received a degree from the University of Calcutta and his Sitar training from the late Pachu Gopal datta and Ustad Mustaq Ali Khan. He began playing the Sitar at age 4, and by the age of 18, he was broadcast on All India Radio. He has recorded 24 CDs, published 6 books, and composed 8 ragas.

Concert recorded on the occasion of the publication of a book entitled "Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan" by Professor Debu Chowdhury; recorded in Mavalankar Auditorium, New Delhi; speeches by the organizer, publisher, musician Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, and editor of the book (Devbirat Chowdury) are followed by performances on sitar (soloists Pratik Chowdury and Debu Chowdury), tabla (soloist Shafaat Ahmad Khan) and voice (soloist Pandit Bhimsen Joshi).
